The royal diadem ratsnake is a colorful and sought after subspecies of the diadem ratsnake complex. They are also known as the Pakistan Jeweled ratsnake or the black headed royal snake. They are found in arid and semi-arid regions of Pakistan and India. Though they are primarily terrestrial and often take refuge in borrows, they are also excellent climbers. Adults have a tan, orangish, or reddish base with black splotches. The degree of black splotching varies greatly even within snakes found at the same site. I have seen snakes captured from the same borrow where one had only a handful of these black markings and the other was almost completely covered in them. The head often contains deep red and black markings. There may also be brownish saddles along the spine.  Juveniles are more subtly colored and do not display the red or black markings until they are over one year of age. These are medium sized colubrids reaching lengths of around five feet long. They are also known to make rather loud hissing hounds when disturbed, but adults rarely bite. They are a rear-fanged species, but none of the bites I’ve received have produced any reaction.

Oriental rat snake (dhaman, Ptyas mucosa) An opportunistic feeder, eats rodents, lizards, frogs, birds, and other small animals, The oriental rat snake has a triangle cross-section with a well-defined vertebral ridge which can indicate it may be a snake eater.If hungry, it is certainly big enough to eat a 2 meter long C radiata.
Large snakes of this species do not have venom, nor do they constrict prey. They simply crush them with their body weight. This snake often eats prey while it is still alive.

The diet of Smooth scaled sand boa (do moi, Eryx johnii) consists mainly of mammals such as rats, mice, and other small rodents that are killed by constriction. Some specimens have apparently fed exclusively on other snakes and birds.

Ptyas mucosa, commonly known as the oriental ratsnake, Indian rat snake, 'darash' or dhaman, is a common species of colubrid snake found in parts of South and Southeast Asia. Dhamans are large snakes, growing to 2 m (6.6 ft) and occasionally even to 3 m (9.8 ft). Their colour varies from pale browns in dry regions to nearly black in moist forest areas. Dhamans are diurnal, semi-arboreal, non-venomous, and fast-moving. Dhamans eat a variety of prey and are frequently found in urban areas where rodents thrive.
Dhamans, though harmless to humans, are fast-moving, excitable snakes. In captivity individuals remain highly territorial and may continue to defend their turf aggressively, attempting to startle or strike at passing objects. Dhamans are diurnal and semiarboreal. They inhabit forest floors, wetlands, rice paddies, farmland, and suburban areas where they prey upon small reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals. Adults, unusually for a colubrid, prefer to subdue their prey by sitting on it rather than by constricting, using body weight to weaken prey.

Dhamans mate in late spring and early summer, though in tropical areas reproduction may take place year round. Males establish boundaries of territory using a ritualised test of strength in which they intertwine their bodies. The behaviour is sometime misread by observers as a 'mating dance' between opposite-sex individuals.[7] Females produce 6-15 eggs per clutch several weeks after mating.

Adult members of this species emit a growling sound and inflate their necks when threatened. This adaptation may represent mimicry of the king cobra or Indian cobra which overlaps this species in range.The resemblance often backfires in human settlements, though, as the harmless animal is then mistaken for a venomous snake and killed.
